In the last 84 days, millions have joined the Comet waitlist looking for a powerful personal AI assistant and new ways to use the internet.

Comet is a full browser with an assistant in every new tab for research, meetings, code, shopping, and tasks. Perplexity adds Background Assistants that run jobs simultaneously so work continues while you move on. Email Assistant, for Max subscribers, works by cc’ing it on threads to draft replies, check calendars, and schedule meetings. Perplexity reports new users asked 6–18x more questions on day one. Voice input is built in.
Perplexity says the goal is to fix a cluttered, ad-driven web by centering questions and direct answers. Comet Plus debuts as a $5 subscription, included with Pro and Max, giving direct access to premium journalism inside the browsing flow and paying partners based on human and AI usage.
