Microsoft appears to be refining the Copilot experience with a couple of incremental but noteworthy changes. In the Composer menu, a new video generation option is being added alongside existing options like generating an image, podcast, quiz, deep research report, or action. This capability is expected to be powered by Sora 2, the latest video model from OpenAI, which until now has required a standalone app for use. Within Copilot, access to video generation for free users will likely be limited to one video per day, mirroring restrictions already in place for podcasts and deep research features, while pro users will likely receive unlimited access. This change could be particularly valuable for creators and professionals who want integrated video generation without leaving the Copilot ecosystem.
At the same time, Microsoft is making small updates to Copilot’s sidebar by introducing a "Shopping" tab, positioned near existing sections like Library, Labs, and Discover. The previous Gallery appears to be rebranded as Imagine, a term that aligns with naming seen in competing platforms such as Grok’s Imagine Gallery.
The new "Shopping" tab aims to centralize order and item tracking, features that have so far been tucked away in the settings UI. This move signals Microsoft’s intentions to broaden its e-commerce integrations through the Copilot Merchants program and the addition of a native wallet, building on existing commerce functionality. No official release dates have been disclosed, but these incremental changes suggest a continued strategy to position Copilot as a comprehensive productivity and commerce hub, bridging creative and transactional workflows for a broad user base.
