Meta AI is developing two unreleased features: Memories and Custom Prompts, both found hidden in the settings of their AI offerings. The memories feature appears to replicate the functionality seen on other AI platforms, enabling users to instruct Meta AI to remember specific details from previous interactions. This knowledge is then intended to improve future responses by retaining personal or contextually relevant information over time.

Custom prompts, or custom instructions, are designed to let users specify how they want Meta AI to behave, such as preferring concise answers or adapting to different conversational styles.
These additions are not available publicly and have yet to be officially announced. They are likely to be implemented across Meta’s platforms where Meta AI is integrated, such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger, as well as Meta Glasses for more advanced users. The aim is to narrow the feature gap with leading competitors, providing options similar to what users find in OpenAI and Google’s products.

Meta’s current product strategy involves developing new AI models that are distinct from the Llama series and expected to remain proprietary, indicating a shift towards a more closed and possibly more commercial ecosystem. This move enables Meta to iterate rapidly and potentially reach a massive user base due to the company’s integration with widely used consumer products. If released, these features could increase user retention and give Meta a stronger foothold in the evolving AI assistant landscape.
