xAI readies image discovery tool for Grok Web platform

xAI is preparing several new features for Grok Web that aim to broaden its functionality and user appeal. Among the unreleased additions, a "Stars" idle animation will display decorative animated stars on the interface when users remain inactive for a short time. This small detail serves as a visual cue for inactivity, similar to screensaver-like effects used in some applications.

Another forthcoming update is the integration of Google Calendar. This will let users connect their Google Calendar, allowing Grok Web to show upcoming events, give reminders, and possibly use Grok AI to help with scheduling, summarizing, or offering intelligent suggestions based on calendar content. This addition is intended to make Grok Web a valuable day-to-day assistant, especially for those already using Google services, supporting xAI’s intention to compete closely with other AI platforms.

Additionally, the "Images Explorer" feature is set to launch. This will enable users to search for, browse, and manage images inside Grok Web, with sections such as Trending, Portrait, Cartoon, and Avatar, offering a more organized way to handle visual media.

xAI, overseen by Elon Musk, has recently expanded Grok’s capabilities with features like image generation, memory reference, and integration with external tools.
