Slack has launched a fully rebuilt Slackbot, now positioned as a personal, context-aware AI agent within the Slack platform. Available immediately for Business+ and Enterprise+ customers, the rollout will occur in phases through January and February. The new Slackbot is designed for employees across various functions, sales, marketing, engineering, service, and operations, aiming to streamline daily workflows by providing tailored answers, insights, and content based on a user's role and workspace context.

This version of Slackbot leverages advanced AI to synthesize information from Slack messages, files, channels, and integrated tools, but strictly within the user's existing permissions and access boundaries. It can summarize lengthy conversations, draft documents in a user's voice, analyze files for key insights, and prepare personalized briefings for meetings. Unlike previous iterations, this Slackbot doesn't require setup or training, functioning natively as a conversation partner that adapts in real time to changing work contexts.

Slack, owned by Salesforce, is emphasizing enterprise-grade security with this release, utilizing multi-layered safeguards to protect user data and ensure compliance with company policies. The company positions Slackbot as an AI solution that understands the nuances of workplace communication and decision-making, distinguishing it from other assistants by its deep integration within Slack and its ability to respect organizational trust requirements. Early user feedback from leaders across industries highlights substantial time savings and improved workflow continuity.
