OpenAI is developing several new features for its developer platform, aiming to expand how agent workflows and applications can be published and used within ChatGPT. One of the features, codenamed Hermes, will allow developers to publish agent workflows built with Agent Builder directly to ChatGPT. In the workflow builder interface, a new button will appear, enabling users to publish a workflow to ChatGPT. When selected, this initiates a redirect to the ChatGPT website with a unique URL referencing the workflow. While the feature is not yet operational, the intention is for users to interact with these workflows within ChatGPT itself. It’s not yet determined whether sharing workflows with others will be supported.

In addition, OpenAI plans to introduce image generation as a tool capability within the workflow builder. At the moment, this option is limited to the playground environment, but integration into the workflow builder is underway. There are indications that an upgrade for the image generation model is scheduled for release, potentially aligning with OpenAI’s December product announcements. The inclusion of image generation in these developer tools suggests preparations for broader updates in this area.

Another aspect in development is the Apps dashboard, which was mentioned during OpenAI DevDay. This dashboard will let users build and manage applications, including the ability to integrate apps with ChatGPT. For now, this feature is restricted to selected partners, but broader rollout is expected, with a dedicated apps section planned for the platform. Here, developers will be able to create, describe, and preview apps; specify MCP server details; and eventually publish them for ChatGPT users.
ChatGPT is also expected to get a new Apps directory (GPT Store v2?).
For context - this was mentioned previously during DevDay 2025

These upgrades fit into OpenAI’s strategy of expanding platform capabilities and lowering friction for developers to bring custom agents and applications into the ChatGPT ecosystem. The new workflow publishing, app dashboard, and image generation features will appeal to AI developers seeking to distribute tools and workflows to ChatGPT’s audience and further integrate their solutions with OpenAI’s growing set of services. If OpenAI repeats last year’s December rollout approach, some of these changes could be released or previewed soon.
