Mitra has launched a personal AI assistant that handles phone calls and other communications using a user’s own number and accounts. Available now on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, it can make outbound calls, answer missed calls, wait on hold, navigate phone trees, filter spam, and escalate emergencies, the company says. The service targets people who want to hand off routine conversations while retaining control when a call needs their attention.
During a call, Mitra can ask the user for guidance or bring them into the conversation. Users can set transfer rules, listen live, follow a live transcript, whisper instructions, or take over. Afterward, Mitra presents the recording, transcript, summary, and next steps for review. These controls are central to the product’s approach: the assistant can act alone within user-set limits, then hand control back when needed.
Today we're launching Mitra.

Mitra is a personal AI assistant that lives on the phone. It makes and answers calls from your own number, handling the conversations you don't have time for. When it needs you, it asks. When a call needs you, it pulls you in. You can listen live,… pic.twitter.com/4mqYVCm05v
Calls are only the starting point. Mitra says its assistant can send texts and emails, message on Slack from connected accounts, book appointments, update calendars, maintain documents and spreadsheets, and complete tasks on websites. A secure vault holds login details for web work, while permission settings govern access to connected apps. This gives Mitra a role across communication and administrative work rather than limiting it to answering the phone.
The company says Mitra learns from information users share, the conversations it handles, and their working habits. It remembers context, keeps work moving, and follows up without waiting for another request. Users can text or speak to the assistant, choose how it represents them, and decide how much it can handle on its own. They can also create a team of Mitras with separate names, personalities, purposes, and areas of focus.

Mitra is targeting both personal and professional work. The team says early users rely on it to stay close to people they care about, start companies, and run existing businesses. Its business model is a straightforward subscription, with no advertising or sale of user data. By tying revenue only to subscribers, the company says Mitra is built to answer to the person it represents.
