Google is developing a new artifact type for Gemini Notebook called Comics, which could let users generate comic books from their uploaded sources. The feature has appeared as a separate tile in the Artifacts Studio with a Beta label, but it is not yet publicly available.

Comics include several customization options. Users will be able to choose from four visual styles: Default, Shojo, Chibi, and Fantasy Anime. They can also select the output language and switch between landscape and portrait formats. These controls suggest that Google wants users to transform research materials, documents, or books into illustrated stories. However, it remains unclear whether the resulting comics will support multiple pages, editable panels, or consistent characters throughout the story.

The product already supports slide decks, infographics, and video overviews. Google has also recently introduced additional customization and review controls for generated presentations and videos. Comics could be particularly useful for educational materials, visual storytelling, and presenting complex topics in a more accessible format.

The release timeline remains uncertain. Google has been developing other artifact types, including Canvas and Apps, for quite some time, and neither has reached public availability. Although the Beta label suggests Comics is being prepared for testing, it does not necessarily indicate an upcoming launch. Google could begin experimenting with the feature soon, but Comics might also remain hidden for an extended period before reaching users.
