Editorial Policy ("Editorial")

This page explains how TestingCatalog reports on artificial intelligence: what we cover, where our information comes from, how we keep our coverage independent, and how we handle mistakes.

Our mission

TestingCatalog covers AI products as they are built and shipped. We report on AI product news, run hands-on feature tests, and track early leaks and rumors of upcoming AI tools and features, often before they are officially announced. Our goal is to give readers an accurate, timely picture of where AI products are heading, and to be clear about how certain we are at every step. Our free newsletter, the TestingCatalog Daily AI Brief, follows the same standards.

Who we are

TestingCatalog is owned and edited by Alexey Shabanov, founder and editor-in-chief. Alexey sets editorial direction, reviews what we publish, and is responsible for the accuracy of our coverage.

Some articles are published under the byline "ERIN | AI Agent". These are AI-assisted pieces that are reviewed and edited by Alexey Shabanov before publication. See our AI Policy for details.

Sourcing and verification

We rely on sources we can check, and we tell readers which kind of source a story is based on:

  • First-hand testing. When we describe how a feature works, we have used it ourselves wherever possible. Screenshots and recordings are real captures from our own testing.
  • Official announcements. Company blog posts, release notes, documentation, and statements from official accounts.
  • Code and app string findings. Many early reports come from features found in app code, web bundles, configuration files, or strings that have not yet launched. We describe what we found and note that unreleased features can change, be delayed, or never ship.
  • Clearly labeled rumors. Reports based on unconfirmed information are tagged Rumors and written so that readers can tell what is confirmed and what is not.

We signal our confidence in plain language. Phrases such as "confirmed," "spotted in testing," "appears to be," or "according to" tell readers how solid the information is. We do not present speculation as fact.

Independence and sponsored content

Our editorial decisions are made independently. Companies cannot pay for news coverage, and we do not publish paid content disguised as news.

When we publish sponsored content or include affiliate links, it is clearly labeled as such. Sponsorships and affiliate relationships do not influence what we report or how we report it.

Use of AI

We use AI tools to help with parts of our work, including drafting some news posts, research, summarization, and newsletter drafting. Every AI-assisted article is reviewed and edited by a human before publication, and Alexey Shabanov is responsible for its accuracy. AI-assisted articles carry a disclosure note. Read the full AI Policy.

Corrections

We aim to get things right, and we fix mistakes promptly when we don't. Factual errors are corrected in the article, and significant corrections are noted so readers can see what changed. Our process is described on the Corrections page. To report an error, please contact us.

Updates

AI products change quickly, so we often update stories as new information arrives, for example when a leaked feature launches or a company confirms details. When we update an article, we update its last-modified date (dateModified). When an update materially changes the story, we add a note to the article explaining what was updated.
