Amazon Web Services has unveiled new Nova models and three new frontier agents - Kiro autonomous agent, AWS Security Agent, and AWS DevOps Agent, ushering in a shift for software development teams. These agents are designed for developers, security professionals, and operations teams, and are currently available in preview. The launch targets organizations looking to reduce manual oversight and accelerate development cycles by introducing AI-driven autonomy and scalability throughout the software lifecycle. Early adopters include enterprises like Clariant, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, SmugMug, Western Governors University, and Presidio.

Kiro autonomous agent acts as a virtual developer, maintaining context and learning from each project. It can manage tasks such as: Bug triage, Code coverage improvements, Cross-repository changes and more!

It integrates with tools like GitHub and Jira. AWS Security Agent embeds security expertise directly into development workflows, scanning code, reviewing design documents, and providing on-demand penetration testing with remediation suggestions. AWS DevOps Agent automates incident response and root cause identification, integrating with observability tools and CI/CD pipelines to support operational resilience. Each agent leverages autonomous operation, scalability, and persistent knowledge, distinguishing them from earlier AI tools that required frequent human coordination or offered only task-specific assistance.

Amazon's focus on these AI-powered agents stems from internal insights on maximizing team productivity and reducing bottlenecks.
