Perplexity’s new Tasks feature is now available from the main menu under the Settings tab, where users can create and manage scheduled prompts. This functionality is designed for pro and enterprise subscribers, giving them the ability to automate queries and trigger either a basic search or activate research mode on a set schedule. While Perplexity hasn’t disclosed any specific limits on how many tasks can be scheduled or at what frequency, the feature itself brings the product in line with recent trends across the AI assistant space. Notably, Comet browser users will also be able to use Tasks, but the current implementation doesn’t allow scheduled tasks to access or interact with the open browser context—meaning, for now, automation is limited to Perplexity’s own internal processing and not actual web page actions.

The rollout follows a broader move across the industry as ChatGPT has supported scheduled prompts for some time, and both Gemini and Grok are in the process of adding similar automation. For teams and individual power users who want to run regular updates, generate ongoing research, or maintain automated workflows, this new option could save time and provide more structured output without manual intervention.

Perplexity’s strategy has been to position itself as a flexible AI-powered research assistant, and adding recurring automation fits well with its focus on productivity tools for professionals and enterprises. The overall pace of adoption suggests that scheduled tasks are quickly becoming a must-have for AI platforms aiming to serve more advanced user needs.
