Mistral Code is powered by a suite of in-house models:

  1. Codestral for code autocompletion
  2. Codestral Embed for code search and retrieval
  3. Devstral for complex coding tasks
  4. Mistral Medium for conversational assistance

The platform allows for on-premise deployment, ensuring that proprietary code remains within an organization's infrastructure. It also offers customization options, enabling fine-tuning of models on private code repositories. An administrative console provides controls for platform management, observability, and usage analytics.

Early adopters of Mistral Code include Capgemini, Abanca, and SNCF, indicating its applicability in sectors with stringent security and regulatory requirements. The tool's design addresses common enterprise concerns such as data sovereignty and the need for customizable AI solutions.

Mistral AI, established in 2023 and based in Paris, focuses on developing AI-powered services, including language models and chatbot platforms. With over €1.1 billion in funding, the company aims to provide AI solutions that cater to enterprise needs, emphasizing data privacy and compliance with European regulations.
