Meta has introduced Edits, a mobile video creation app designed to streamline the video production process for creators. The app is now available to the public, targeting content creators who want to produce and edit high-quality videos on their phones for sharing across various platforms, not just Facebook and Instagram. The initial rollout followed a period of close collaboration and feedback from a select group of creators who tested early versions.

Edits stands out with a range of AI-powered video effects, such as those enabled by the new SAM 3 model. Users can apply effects like Scribble, Outline, or Glitter to specific people or objects, tag outfits, or blur items within their footage. The app also debuts features such as Reels integration, allowing creators to remix or react to content from Meta’s public Reel library, with automatic crediting for original creators.

Title cards and storyboards provide structured planning and professional video titling, while an expanded library of text styles and fonts, including options for Indic languages, supports broader creative expression. Templates allow quick assembly of videos using popular audio and visual cues.

Meta developed Edits to address challenges faced by creators who often juggle multiple apps for different aspects of the video creation process. The app offers longer camera capture (up to 10 minutes), a frame-accurate editing timeline, real-time data-driven insights, and export options without watermarks. Meta’s commitment to further updates is shaped by ongoing community feedback, with future plans including collaboration tools, more creative assets, and advanced editing features.
