Google is preparing a new menu option dedicated to scheduled actions on the navigation bar in Gemini. This will not only display existing scheduled tasks but will also introduce a selection of ready-made templates. Users will be able to choose from options such as:
- Daily Briefing
- News Digest
- Joke of the Day
- Morning Motivation
- Sunday Comic
- Among others
Selecting a template allows quick customisation; users can edit the prompt and set it as their own recurring task. The Sunday Comic template, for instance, will use Nano Banana Pro to generate a unique comic, expanding Gemini’s creative output beyond text.
The addition of templates lowers the barrier for users to try scheduling routines, positioning the feature as part of daily app usage. This move is likely designed to strengthen retention, giving users regular incentives to revisit Gemini and discover new types of AI-powered content.
Google is also progressing on adding project support to Gemini, a highly anticipated update for users managing more complex workflows. Early evidence of these features has surfaced in both web and mobile versions, but there is no official timeline for public rollout. For Gemini, these updates signal a broader strategy to integrate productivity and entertainment features while driving regular engagement.
