Google’s NotebookLM continues to evolve as new features surface in early development stages. Recently, a code-named feature called Magic View was spotted. So far, when activated, it launches an animation that resembles a dynamic canvas or a Game of Life field, though there’s no clear indication yet what its main function will be. This element could hint at a new type of interactive space or visual artifact that users can create, or it might serve as a completely new way to visualize or interact with notebook data. It’s still too early to determine if Magic View will take the form of a game, an app, or something more experimental within NotebookLM.

NotebookLM’s main audience consists of students, educators, researchers, and anyone looking for advanced note-taking with AI assistance. This new Magic View feature, when released, would likely be found within the existing Notebook apps environment, potentially alongside the recently added flashcards and quizzes. The goal seems to be to make information exploration or creation more visually immersive or interactive, but the exact significance will only become clear as development progresses.

At the same time, Google is rolling out broader access to video overviews, enabling users to generate summaries in video format for their notebooks. The addition of a customization menu for selecting languages in these video overviews further reflects the product’s focus on accessibility and internationalization.
As with previous updates, these discoveries were surfaced via feature flag analysis and code review, typical for early-stage Google experiments. Given the pace and approach of Google’s recent updates to NotebookLM, it may be a while before Magic View is widely available. For now, users should watch for hints of expanded interactivity and visual storytelling within the app, as Google continues to align NotebookLM with broader trends in generative AI-powered productivity tools. The company’s steady rollout of customizable, multimedia, and interactive options keeps NotebookLM in line with Google’s strategy of making knowledge work both more powerful and more accessible.
