Google is now developing a new “Infographics” artifact type for NotebookLM, a move that targets users who rely on visual summaries to communicate complex information, particularly on platforms like LinkedIn or within project teams. Infographics have become a preferred format for quickly sharing insights, and adding this capability to NotebookLM would benefit professionals, students, and researchers who need to turn dense research or meeting notes into shareable graphics.

The early work shows users will have some control, such as choosing the language and specifying focus areas, for example, directing the system to build an infographic from a single source document. It remains to be seen whether Google will offer only a set template (as seen with their video overviews) or if users can customize layouts and graphic elements. A template-based approach would limit flexibility but ensure consistency and speed; more customization could make NotebookLM a tool of choice for content creators looking to differentiate their materials.

This could also be the moment for Google’s nano-banana model, previously used for creative editing in Flow, to become central in NotebookLM’s workflow, making generative visual content available directly in knowledge management. NotebookLM has not yet integrated this model, so infographics could serve as a flagship use case for its arrival. Given the current development pace, these features are likely still several months away from a full launch. For now, only traces of this capability are visible in the codebase, with no official timeline from Google. For users invested in visual storytelling and knowledge sharing, this is a development to watch closely as it matures.
