The latest additions, Claude Sonnet 4 and Sonnet 4 Thinking, appear in the Perplexity Pro interface under the “AI Model” selector on both desktop and mobile devices. Sonnet 4 is described as a highly capable large language model with improved reasoning, stronger coding skills, and the ability to follow complex instructions compared to previous versions. The new “Thinking” mode provides users with the choice to receive extended, step-by-step responses for more complex queries rather than just short, direct answers. Users can toggle this option within the Pro interface, letting them switch between quicker solutions and in-depth, reasoned analysis. The default context window supports handling larger and more complex conversations such as advanced coding or research topics.
Perplexity, the company responsible for this release, has a track record of providing users with access to cutting-edge AI models and quickly integrating the latest releases from Anthropic, OpenAI, and others. Recent updates and posts in the help center illustrate a focus on improving model selection, user control features, and making advanced capabilities more widely available for Pro users.
