Black Forest Labs has released FLUX.2, a new family of image generation and editing models aimed at professionals, developers, and creative teams. FLUX.2 is publicly available in several variants: [pro] and [flex] are accessible via APIs and online playgrounds, [dev] is distributed as open-weight checkpoints for local or cloud use, and [klein] will launch soon as an open-source, size-distilled option. These models support workflows in design, advertising, branding, and software development, catering to users who require precise control, high fidelity, and scalability.

FLUX.2’s technical advances include:

  1. Simultaneous referencing of up to 10 images
  2. Production-ready text rendering for infographics and UI mockups
  3. High-resolution editing up to 4 megapixels

It uses a latent flow matching architecture combining a 24B parameter vision-language model with a rectified flow transformer, enabling superior spatial reasoning and world knowledge. Compared to earlier FLUX.1 models and other open-weight alternatives, FLUX.2 offers improved prompt adherence, greater photorealism, and higher detail stability.
