The latest set of Telegram X beta updates, from build 0.21.6.1100 to .1105, have been made official for all Google Play beta testers and are bringing around dozens of fixes as well as a couple of great new features. Perhaps, before going too deep into those, here are the changelogs for the releases that we mentioned in a combined fashion.

    What's new

    0.21.6.1100 beta

Redesigned internal application architecture from scratch. Reliable notifications and lower battery usage. Rolling out for 100% users (yolo).

    Changes:

    • Dramatically improved notifications reliability.
    • Reduced battery and network usage in the background
    • Reduced multi-account resource usage. Even if you use 10+ accounts, everything should work as smooth as if you'd have only one account.

As it is April 1st today, the Internet space is going crazy with all sorts of jokes and pranks around. Logically, the Lawnchair Launcher team has also hidden something inside the most recent 1056 alpha build of the app, which by the way, you can grab from their Lawnchair - Releases channel on Telegram. Back on topic, on this date, the app has been set to switch its typeface to the old-school Comic Sans, which has initially been intended to be used for writing children's books, so you get it, right?

Privacy-centric messaging app Signal has a new beta update ready for all of you to try. The latest Play Store release for early adopters with version number 4.37.0 has been pushed out with some nice improvements and no character limit for messages, but more on that in a bit. As usual, let's go through the list with changes and afterward proceed with our detailed feature analysis.

    What’s new

★ Swipe up while recording a voice note and give your thumb a rest.

★ Send long messages. We could use the entire 500-character limit that Google Play graciously provides to Android developers for the 'What's New' section of each app update and do some meta thing where we talk about the numerous benefits of being able to use a lot of text to say something when using a few words just is not enough, but a character limit isn't very fun (which is why we eliminated ours).

★ We fixed several MMS bugs.

    Continuous voice note recording

Yep, Signal has also added this feature, but previously we have seen it on Telegram, which the former is based on. To make the recording go with no interruption, just swipe up after you press for a short period of time the microphone button. It is pretty darn simple, isn't it?

    Limitless messaging

By limitless, I mean that you can send messages with as many characters as you want.

This time I decided to make a short review for the last 10 Android apps in beta which we published recently. Some of them are super popular and some of them are not at all. At first - I opened our TestingCatalog App and OPT-INed to all 10 beta programs from there. Please keep in mind that Google Play still have this annoying bug which doesn't allow you to install apps immediately and you will have to wait for up to 4 hours to do so. With this being said - I just started this review on the next day.

Poweramp provides an audiophile-grade sound quality output for most Android devices, yet it is still a music player that packs inside lots of other great functionalities. As new updates become available, additional features get jammed and as is the case with the latest beta, there are a number of fresh ones coupled with the ever-needed set of bug fixes. Let's first check out the official release notes for V3 build 823 and afterwards continue with our regular feature breakdown part.

    What’s new

    • Chromecast support
    • 16/24bit, 48/96kHz PCM streaming
    • gapless
    • Chromecast Assistant commands are supported
    • additional track meta info
    • Equ/Tone is supported but disabled by default
    • configurable Chromecast button
    • per list position and per track progress for Playlists and Folders
    • new Ignore Video Tracks option
    • gapless/replay gain support for .mpc (musepack)
    • bug fixes and stability improvements

    Chromecast support

Basically, Poweramp now natively supports casting to Google Chromecast-enabled devices, including TVs and more. Additionally, there is an option in Settings - Look and Feel - Player UI for choosing whether the 'Cast' button to be visible on the 'Main Screen' (I am not sure exactly where.), in the 'Main Menu, or both. It can also be hidden entirely if you prefer. Other notable things related are Hi-res PCM streaming and gapless playback mode, all working nicely when casting. You can customize those from the Audio - Output- Chromecast section. Furthermore, there is a switch named 'No Equ/Tone' which can be found there too, and when enabled, essentially, it disables all types of audio enhancement functions built into Poweramp, so you can use your device's sound control software, e.g. Dolby Atmos, Dirac and such.
