WhatsApp for Android continues its internal testing of Dark Mode support according to a recent report from @wabetainfo It is important to mention that it is not available to anyone yet and all screenshots were discovered via APK reverse-engineering.
According to shared screenshots, there will be a "Theme" section in settings with 3 options - "Light", "Dark" and "System Default". This looks like a very standard dark mode feature implementation which you can find in many other apps already.
It also appears that there will be no "Amoled Black" theme option which is loved by many dark mode users. The difference between "Dark" and "Black" is quite significant because "Dark" has more Gray colour tone. "Back" theme is especially popular on devices with AMOLED displays (Like Samsung for example) due to its low power consumption.
Facebook is known to be quite inconsistent in terms of feature support across its apps ecosystem. We got dark mode feature on Messenger as a settings toggle a long time ago and recently we got system-wide dark mode support on Instagram. In that perspective, it is not clear yet how this feature is going to be released and in which state. There is a high chance that it will be rolled out in server-side stages to a limited amount of users regardless of their Beta opt-in status.
