Medium is a subscription-based news reading app (a limited free option is also available) with a design that is especially-made for easier focusing on the topic that is being read.
- UI improvements on topic landing pages
- Improved immersion on the post page
- Collection header UI improvements
- Minor bug fixes and improvements
The new beta update with build number 3.6.6825 takes this principle to the next level by automatically hiding the status and navigation bars in every post reading page. This approach leads to a more immersive experience overall, with no distractions, so you can enjoy your reading. One of the other enhancements that came in parallel with this update is the new full-screen page for collections. Tapping on the 'Featured collections' label lands you to the 'Explore collections' page, where featured collections are laid out in a vertical two-column card layout with no extra text, dividers, and whatnot. In the topic landing pages the related topic shortcuts are a tad bit larger and they blend in better with the rest of the interface.
Things look even lovelier to the eye with the included Night mode on. To enable it, just head into the settings of Medium, accessible from the left hamburger menu. There is an Auto setting too, so the Night theme goes on depending on the time of the day.
Of course, what is an update without bug fixes? And yet, there are some minor ones ironed out and it seems like they are not even worth mentioning.
