Instagram Beta & Alpha for Android Community Report 📲 POCOPHONE F1

Today Instagram is rolling out new alpha and beta updates with versions 55.0.0..0.7 and 54.0.0.3.82 respectively. There is not a changelog provided for the beta, so let's check out the one for the alpha.

  • You can now video chat in Instagram Direct. Swipe left an existing chat and tap the video icon on the top right to video chat with up to four people. (ALPHA ONLY)
  • At the top of Explore, you will now see a tray of topic channels, personalized to your interests. (We covered them in our previous report)
  • With IGTV, you can now watch long-form, vertical video from your favorite Instagram creators. Touch the new icon at the top right of feed to get started. Basically, you can watch IGTV content directly from the Instagram app.

Also, the video chat feature that was added previously is quite nice. It's really simple to use and straightforward. The only thing I've noticed is that you must have messaged the contact who you want to call before it shows you the call button.

As you can see, the changelogs that they have provided us with are quite repetitive - we already got some of the same features much earlier. Hey, Instagram! Start providing us with proper changelogs, please!

Note: Some of these changes are server-side, so you may not get them right away.

What are your thoughts on the newly released features? Please, let us know.

  • Instagram is a platform, where you can share your life with the ones you love and value the most. It is used by more than 1 billion people around the world, and the community grows rapidly.
Tip us ⚡️ with any news about features you discovered in the app, to share them with the Community of beta testers. Are you looking for more insights? Check our daily Community Reports on TestingCatalog.
