Perplexity opens [Comet](https://www.testingcatalog.com/exclusive-comrehansive-review-comet/) worldwide today, free. The AI-powered browser exits its July 9 limited release and drops the waitlist. Downloads start now. The launch targets anyone who browses and researches on desktop. Mobile apps are in preview with broader availability planned next.

Comet is a full browser with an assistant in every new tab for research, meetings, code, shopping, and tasks. Perplexity adds Background Assistants that run jobs simultaneously so work continues while you move on. Email Assistant, for Max subscribers, works by cc’ing it on threads to draft replies, check calendars, and schedule meetings. Perplexity reports new users asked 6–18x more questions on day one. Voice input is built in.
