OpenAI seems to be developing a new homepage for ChatGPT. They are currently setting up an A-B test that moves the prompt bar to the center of the page and removes the conversation starters. Alongside these visual changes, they are also working on implementing an autocomplete feature, which will leverage LLM generation. However, this feature isn’t accessible yet.

Interestingly, even though the main change is the repositioning of the text bar, it appears that OpenAI is trying to unify the interface with another prototype they are working on called [SearchGPT](https://www.testingcatalog.com/early-access-to-searchgpt-openais-ai-powered-search-feature/). In SearchGPT, the prompt bar is located in the middle of the screen by default. OpenAI has also mentioned plans to integrate this prototype with their main product, ChatGPT.

This indicates that we may see these changes being tested with real users in the coming months. The shift could signify a broader strategy by OpenAI to delve deeper into the search engine domain, enhancing their generative AI capabilities even further.

OpenAI, the company behind [ChatGPT](https://www.testingcatalog.com/tag/chatgpt/), has become a pivotal player in the AI industry, significantly advancing generative AI technology. ChatGPT, launched in 2022, has rapidly grown to over 200 million weekly active users by 2024\. The company continues to push the boundaries with new features such as multimodal capabilities, including voice and image inputs, positioning itself as a leader in the AI space.
