Medium is testing a lighter UI with stories swimlane on Android beta

It turns out that the Medium app has a separate toggle in settings that allows you to switch to a beta version.

After switching, the UI will reset and appear in a much lighter variant. After the onboarding view, you will see a home page with a list of people you follow on top. These tails will simply open their profiles and you will see a chip element showing a number of new stories they've posted.
The top swimlane may look very familiar for many users of other social apps. This feature cannot be called Stories in the sense they appear everywhere else because it is not a new content type but just another UI view.

The UI works quite fast in general and all other parts of the app are redesigned as well.
