It pops up a notification when you slide into your DMs but also should be accessible from the profile page. If you used statuses on Slack, this feature will be very familiar to you as well. It allows you to set an emoji with text to be shown under your profile showing visitors if you are busy or on vacation for example. Could be especially useful for professional accounts.
