Google is preparing a notable expansion for its NotebookLM product, according to a newly surfaced internal memo. The document outlines several upcoming features that aim to broaden how users consume and share AI-generated content. Among the most anticipated updates is the addition of V*ideo Overviews*, which would complement the existing text and audio formats. This move follows Google’s pattern of multimodal development across its Gemini ecosystem.

The update will also affect the *Studio Panel*, a right-hand sidebar that currently hosts project management tools. The panel will be slightly redesigned to house these new content formats, suggesting a tighter integration of NotebookLM’s creative and organizational features. Users working with A*udio Overviews* will now have the ability to produce multiple artifacts in [different languages](https://www.testingcatalog.com/google-expands-notebooklm-with-audio-overviews-in-over-50-languages/) within the same notebook, a previously limited workflow. This change may cater particularly well to multilingual teams, researchers, and educators.

Another key detail from the memo highlights a more granular sharing capability: users will be able to share individual artifacts like audio clips or mind maps without exposing the entire notebook. This addresses a long-standing request from users who rely on NotebookLM for collaborative or public-facing projects, offering finer control over content privacy and distribution.

These features are not yet live, but a recent update to the web UI provides clues that rollout might be close. The audio overview customization pop-up has added a language selector, replacing the cumbersome need to switch the entire project’s language setting. This minor UI shift appears to be laying the groundwork for the full feature drop.

[NotebookLM](https://www.testingcatalog.com/tag/notebooklm/), part of Google Labs, has steadily evolved as a personal AI research assistant. The upcoming changes reinforce Google’s focus on turning it into a modular tool for creators, academics, and knowledge workers, aligning well with its broader Gemini product direction. Given the timing of the leak and the already-visible UI tweaks, these additions may land in production within the next few weeks.
