Anthropic is merging Claude Cowork and standard chat into one Claude experience, ending the need to choose between a quick conversation and a larger delegated task. From the same thread, users can ask a question, hand off extended work, and let Claude continue after their laptop is closed. The rollout is reaching new and existing Pro and Max subscribers across web, desktop, and mobile over the coming weeks. Team and Free plans will follow.

Claude Docs and Claude Slides are also launching, while Claude Design is moving into conversations. Paid users can ask Claude to co-write a document or draft a presentation, edit it directly, present from Claude, or download it as a PowerPoint or PDF. All three tools are in beta on paid plans, and Enterprise administrators decide when to enable them. Standalone Claude Design remains available.

Anthropic says the previous split created friction: Cowork was reserved for bigger assignments, while Design handled visual work. Users had to decide where a request belonged and could not carry work between those spaces. Claude can now determine which capabilities a task needs and bring Cowork and Design into any conversation with existing context, skills, and connectors.

In Anthropic's example, a user asks about the previous week's sales pipeline, requests a report in their usual style that flags slippages, and adds five leadership slides. Claude can ask follow-up questions, continue while the user checks progress on a phone, and return a document with teammate notes plus matching slides. The user can edit, comment, share the work, and schedule the report for every Monday.

Work created with Docs, Slides, or Design lives at one shareable link accessible on a phone. Users can move a selected element or ask Claude for revisions. [Claude](https://www.testingcatalog.com/tag/claude/) asks before acting by default, though an optional setting allows it to keep working and check in only when closer review is needed. Users retain final say.

Existing chat users need no new workflow, while Cowork users keep their chats, projects, artifacts, connectors, and skills. Pro and Max users receive the change without an enablement step. Enterprise customers will get at least 30 days' notice before organization-wide changes.
