Microsoft's Cortana voice assistant on Android has always been very cluttered and not straightforward in regards to usability and functions. The newest iteration, which comes as an official upgrade to version 3.0 aims to change this and make the user experience leaps better. And it sort of does. It is indeed smarter too.

Design-wise they have switched to a fully white user interface all over the place and it looks very sleek.

Signal Messenger's whole design philosophy from the ground up is focused around taking privacy and security at a top notch level and to collect as little user data as possible. It had already omitted storing information like user avatars, profile names, contacts, and a dozen more. Its next move, and probably with a much better protection for spam and abuse, is hiding who is messaging whom, which comes to beta tester in the form of version 4.30.5 and 4.30.6. Below is the changelog, applicable for both.

    Changelog:

β˜… Support for "sealed sender" messages

β˜… We updated the built-in emoji set and added support for "Fitzpatrick" customization.

The new Messenger redesign, known as Messenger 4, has just started rolling out to everyone, but unfortunately, it had been switching back for some. Actually, a lot of users on the Internet are reporting that on their Android devices Messenger has already reverted to the old interface for an unknown reason. It apparently happens because of a bug, or the rollout was not planned for this large of an audience, but it should come back soon enough.

    Features in testing

    • Selfie Mode

Facebook Messenger is testing Selfie Mode, which is the same as Portrait Mode that is shipping on many smartphones released in the past two, or three years. This mode does two things - Skin Softening and adds a Bokeh blur effect.
